What We Believe
Rooted in Scripture, committed to grace, and centered on the hope of Jesus Christ.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16
At Riverview Church, we hold to the historic Christian faith — not as a list of rules, but as the living truth that transforms hearts and communities. These are the convictions we build our life together on.
Core Beliefs
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God — fully trustworthy and our ultimate guide for faith and life.
2 Timothy 3:16–17God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — who is holy, loving, and sovereign over all creation.
Deuteronomy 6:4 · Matthew 28:19Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and is coming again.
John 1:1,14 · 1 Corinthians 15:3–4Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone — not by works. Anyone who repents and trusts in Jesus is forgiven and made new.
Ephesians 2:8–9 · Romans 10:9The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, producing transformation, gifting the church for ministry, and empowering us to live for God.
Acts 1:8 · Galatians 5:22–23The Church
We believe the local church is God's primary vehicle for making disciples. We exist to worship together, grow together, and reach our community together.
Matthew 16:18 · Hebrews 10:24–25Baptism & Communion
We practice believer's baptism by immersion as a public declaration of faith, and observe communion regularly as a remembrance of Christ's sacrifice.
Matthew 28:19 · Luke 22:19Eternity
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people — those who believe in Christ will spend eternity with God; those who reject Him face eternal separation from God.
John 5:28–29 · Revelation 20:11–15Our Commitment
We hold these beliefs humbly, knowing that our understanding is always growing. We are committed to the essentials of the Christian faith while extending grace on secondary matters. What unites us is far greater than anything that might divide us: Jesus Christ, crucified and risen.
If you have questions about what we believe — or questions about faith in general — we welcome them. We believe questions are a sign of a searching heart, and we would be honored to explore them with you.
