You Are Not Alone in the Dark

Depression is one of the most isolating experiences a person can have. It can make God feel distant, hope feel impossible, and the future feel bleak. If that's where you are, please hear this: you are not spiritually deficient. You are not failing at faith. You are human, and you are not alone.

Some of the Bible's greatest figures experienced profound darkness. Elijah collapsed under a tree and asked to die (1 Kings 19). David wrote Psalm 88 — one of the darkest prayers in all of Scripture — with no resolution at the end. God met them both.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."— Psalm 34:18

Getting Help

If you are experiencing depression, please reach out to a mental health professional. Faith and professional care work together — not against each other. God works through medicine, through therapy, through community, and through His Word.

You don't have to earn healing. You don't have to be strong enough to get better on your own. Asking for help is an act of wisdom and courage, not weakness.
