What Is Faith?
Hebrews 11:1 gives us one of the most powerful definitions in all of Scripture: "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Faith is not blind. It is a reasoned trust — grounded in who God has proven Himself to be — that steps forward even when the path isn't fully visible.
Faith is not the absence of questions. It's the decision to trust God even in the middle of them.
Scriptures on Faith
"For we live by faith, not by sight."
— 2 Corinthians 5:7"Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move."
— Matthew 17:20"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."
— Romans 10:17"Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."
— Hebrews 11:6"Jesus replied, 'What is impossible with man is possible with God.'"
— Luke 18:27Growing in Faith
Faith grows through use. Every time you take a step of trust — even a small, imperfect one — your faith is exercised and strengthened. It also grows through the Word of God, through prayer, through community with other believers, and through remembering what God has already done.
If your faith feels small right now, that's okay. Even the disciples asked Jesus to increase their faith. Start where you are, and let God meet you there.
