God Is a Healer
One of the names of God in the Old Testament is Jehovah Rapha — "The Lord Who Heals." Healing is not just something God occasionally does. It is part of His nature and His character. Jesus spent a significant portion of His ministry healing the sick, the broken, and the outcast.
Healing in Scripture is multidimensional. It includes physical healing, yes — but also the healing of wounds that can't be seen: trauma, shame, grief, broken relationships, and spiritual darkness.
Scriptures for Healing
"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed."
— Isaiah 53:5"Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord."
— James 5:14"Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me."
— Psalm 30:2"Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise."
— Jeremiah 17:14"He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."
— 1 Peter 2:24Praying for Healing
If you or someone you love needs healing today, bring it to God in prayer. The Bible consistently shows that God responds to honest, persistent prayer. James 5 specifically instructs believers to pray for one another for healing — and to expect God to work.
Healing may come suddenly or gradually. It may come through medicine, through time, through community, or through direct intervention. However it comes, God is the source.
