You Were Made for Connection
God's first declaration about humanity was not about sin or need — it was about belonging. "It is not good for man to be alone" (Genesis 2:18). You were wired for connection. Loneliness isn't weakness. It's a signal that something important is missing.
Jesus himself experienced loneliness. In Gethsemane, his closest friends fell asleep while he was in anguish. On the cross, he cried out "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" He understands isolation from the inside.
Scriptures for Lonely Moments
"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
— Deuteronomy 31:8"Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close."
— Psalm 27:10"Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted."
— Psalm 25:16"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
— Matthew 28:20"A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."
— Proverbs 18:24Finding Real Connection
Reading Scripture about loneliness can comfort the heart — but community is ultimately what fills the gap. The church was designed to be a place where the lonely find a home. Real people, real relationships, real belonging.
If you're experiencing loneliness, the most important step you can take is to show up somewhere. Not online — in person. A church, a small group, a shared meal. The hardest part is walking through the door the first time.
